It has been said many times that the best Risk Management Programs are not those that are based on an insurance contract alone, but those that are based in communication in conjunction with aggressive loss control and claims handling. The insurance contract are only there to protect the company when the communication and loss control fails. The following products and services should be considered together to providing you with the most effective Risk management Program available.
Loss Control & Risk Management
- Unit Risk Management Report - All
locations on the program (those that serve liquor and those that do not)
will utilize the Unit Risk Management Report, which we have designed and
implemented to increase accountability at the unit level.
- Physical Inspections - All accounts on
the program (those that serve liquor and those that do not) will have a
minimum of 10% and/or at least 1 location physically inspected utilizing our
loss control inspection form.
- Liquor Litigation Assessment -
Liquor Liability Claims are the Catastrophes that no one ever wants to deal
with. They usually involve severe injuries and/or death.
One only has to look at the any of the industry periodicals to see the
awards associated with such incidents. It is these awards that can force a
company in to bankruptcy or liquidation. We take this exposure extremely
seriously. We have extensive experience with this difficult issue and have
developed the Liquor Litigation Assessment Program as a way to protect our
clients.
- Secret Shopper - All accounts that
serve Alcohol on the program will have a minimum of 10% or at least 1
location inspected by the Secret Shopper during peak hours of operations to
determine that the proper protocols are in place for the services of
alcohol.
Claims Audits & Handling
- Claims Handling - Third Party Administrator
(TPA)- We utilize a number of Third Party Administrators that can demonstrate the
ability to successful adjudicate claims for the restaurant industry.
We have developed a number strict claim protocols specifically designed to assist
our clients and prevail in the case of a claim. The TPAs we utilize are
required to follow these protocols in the handling of the claim of our clients.
The net result has been exceptional. Understand exactly how the claims will
be handled and under what timeline before you sign a TPA Contract
- Claim Audits -"Don't Expect what
You Don't Inspect" Every company is trying to improve margins
everyday. Third Party Administrators are not different. Even
with the most definitive protocols and pay for performance contracts, do
not expect anyone to handle your claims the way you may have if you were
trained to do so. That is with TPAs what if you are at the
mercy of the claims department of a large insurance company, good
luck.
When we hire a TPA for a client, or place coverage on a guaranteed
cost basis we are intimately involved in the claims administration. We
do claim audits for clients regularly and the results can be shocking.
Keep us in mind the next time you look at your loss runs and realize the
reserves posted will dictate your pricing.
